Originally by: Tarron Sarek Cruiser V and Battleship V still take a lot of time (although I think cruiser V is the most common 'it takes too long' complaint). I may be wrong, but I think it is kind a funny that you do not here many whines about the length of time to get into a Hulk. My guess is that it may be a bit shorter time then to get BS V.

Those people are missing the one vital (real life) character trait needed to get the most from this game: patience.
I guess the lack of whines for the time to get into a properly tanked Hulk is due to the ability for someone to sit and click roids for hours on end ='ing patience.
But as for a learning skill training nerf, I would say it is not needed. Train then or don't. I think it would be cool to try and play an alt with no learning skills past what is given at the begining which I would counter by not using implants. To see what the progression would be like.

Edited by: Slade Trillgon on 04/04/2008 19:23:29 As noob I will put my opinion in. I would say time wise the real sink comes at level 4 of the basic skills. I think somewhere around 2 days worth of training for each skill, give or take. So as a new player the intrinsic value of the extra +1 from the basic skill and the +3 from the advanced skills is where the issue really comes to light.
So to the vets I pose this question. If a noob starts with balanced attributes say 6-8 in all 5 attributes plus 3 attribute points from basic learnig plus a +3 implant in each slot: is that a really gimped toon SP/time for a toon in the first years and a half of being in game?
I would say that spending the 3 days to train all basics learning skills to 3 with +3 implants would be plenty of attribute buffer for the 1st year of training. I may be totally incorrect on this since I do not use EVE mon. EDIT: And save about 20 million to boot

I recall finishing my last learning skill (Learning 5) just after Christmas 06, about 3 months after I started.
If so, when I dedicate a set time to train my advanced skills to IV that will pay off 3 months after completing all IV in Adv skills?
So I loose @21 days of functional skill training time but gain that time back within 3 months.
